New York’s Chinatown came into being in the 1870’s as the Chinese population began to rise. After the establishment of Chinatown, Americans and visitors of New York and Manhattan began to associate “Chinatown” as their “oriental” experience of New York. Chinatown became a rapidly growing neighborhood for residents and tourist known specifically for their Chinese-American cultural and historic diversity. To celebrate Chinatown’s diversity, a bold color palette with high contrast in type were used for their rebrand. Adding vibrancy to Chinatown’s brand gives tourist a new outlook.
